In February 2005, Kara was diagnosed with a rare form of metastatic brain cancer – large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. She is a devoted mother of two, and a caring and generous wife, sister and daughter. This blog was started to keep family and friends informed of Kara's progress. The thoughts and prayers Kara has received through this blog have been an unending source of hope and inspiration, including many kind and encouraging comments from people she has never met. We thank you all.

Welcome home, Kara! Loved seeing the pics of you and your precious angels. We love you, Kim, Kyle, Lauren and Katie
PS Please give Emma a special hug from Katie. She still talks about her often and once I heard her pretend she was there playing with her.
Hi Kara-
Welcome home! You don't know me but I work with Matt at Baylor. You are continuously in my prayers. It brought a smile to my face when I saw the pics of you, Emma and Luke. Let their smiles continue to give you strength and continue to keep your faith in GOD.
I can't be there in person right now, but my heart is definitely with you. I'll continue to check on your progress here, but call me if anyone needs ANYTHING! You're in our prayers. I'm glad you are home. We all love you bunches! Hugs to Luke and Emma too.
