First Day of School

Emma had her first day of kindergarten yesterday, and loved it. She is such a brave girl -- she has been reading her "Ramona" books, and thought that she was going to get to walk home from school all by herself. Kara was able to get up and have breakfast with Emma and see her off to school.

Kara is doing all she can to get stronger. She is able to eat more, and has been doing her "Sit and Fit" exercises that are run on PBS right before Emma gets home from school. Her speech is improving as well. She continues to have radiation every morning, and so far has tolerated her new chemotherapy well. She met with Dr. Tay, her radiation doctor, and he said that the new chemo drug crosses the blood-brain barrier, and could be very effective.

Kara remains focused on the Word of God, and has been blessed to have friends and family come by and pray with her and point out encouraging scriptures. She is trying to remain confident that she has asked for healing and will receive it.

"For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds."
- Jeremiah 30:17.

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him."
- 1 John 5:14, 15.

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
- Hebrews 10:23.

Prayer Requests:
- Please pray that Kara continues to improve after her setback last week -- that she grows stronger, her speech improves, and she can continue to eat more and have more energy.
- Please pray that Kara continues to colerate the radiation and her new chemo drug.
- Please pray for faith and confidence in God's ability to heal Kara, for Kara and her family.
- Please pray that the cancer be eradicated from Kara's body, permanently.

Thank you.

How cool that she did so well at school. I can't believe how old these kids are getting. Last Friday was Mal's first day of Preschool and she practically kicked me out of the classroom, a far cry from Cowboy last year, who cried the whole first week!!! Keep getting stronger, you are doing great and are still a huge inspiration to all of us who think that we have it tough. God will conquer all. Much Love, Sal

i pray that you have peace, that you are strengthened in your suffering and that you remember every day of this trial because you WILL get through this. i pray that each day you become more like Jesus; that you love one another, that you forgive and are forgiven and that you always accept His will. may this disease leave kara's body and never return. may this wonderful family witness God's healing grace and always be warmed by it.

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills--
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.

Lord, give us peace in the midst of anxiety about the unknown. Thank you for demonstrating your love through the community of believers. Amen.

Remember, Kara, God is in charge, and I believe he is hearing our prayers. Stay positive, don't let fear in to your body or brain, and remember that mean face and tight fist that Luke makes. Smile lots, for your smiles will chase away the devil. Stay strong, Matt.
All our love, Jim and Diane

Dear Kara and Family,
What a day to celebrate...Emma's first day of school! You are an inspiration, Kara, with your strong faith in Jesus our Savior. He loves you more than you can ever imagine. We believers are all connected by His Spirit, so all the people praying for you around the country (and world?) are like we're in the same room with you. We lift you up daily to Jesus.
Love,
Curt and Linda

What a joy that Emma started kindergarten! She's such a big girl. Her cousin Zachary started kindergarten on Tuesday. We look forward to all of the stories that you'll have to share.

Kara, we continue to pray steadfastly for your complete healing and recovery. We are in agreement with the prayers of other brothers and sisters in Christ across the country. Jehovah-rapha is at work in you, healing and restoring you, redeeming His image in you. You are His precious child.

We love you,
Gina and Curby
