Recovering Well

Kara's been continuing to do well at home after her surgery. Her pain medications keep her pretty comfortable, and she's even been able to get up and go for short walks. When she came home on Sunday afternoon, she and Emma played some games (Emma spun the spinner for Kara and moved her playing piece) and she and Luke looked over his flash cards (he's about to speak -- we just know he is!). With Matt, Mom, Dad, Aunt Lois, John, and Dr. Emma, Kara is being looked after very well.

Kara will go in to see Dr. Kaplan later in the week, and will see Dr. Lynch (her main oncologist) early in September. After she's recovered from the surgery, Kara will have another two or three rounds of the same chemo she had before to hopefully destroy any other cancer cells in her body.

"And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick,
and the Lord will make them well.
And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. "
- James 5:15-16.

Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for a swift, complication-free recovery from the surgery for Kara.
- Please pray that the cancer is eradicated from her body, permanently.

Thank you for your unwavering concern for Kara and your unceasing prayers -- they provide immeasurable comfort to her and her family.

Kara, This blog spot is the most inspiring thing I have ever experienced! Your incredible sister and this wonderful play-by-play of your progress brings us to your bedside to pray with you and watch you play with your children when you can.
What a thrill to hear all these wonderful reports. Your case is for the medical history books - one fabulous victory after another over this very serious condition. You know that many would have simply given up - but not you! You and your wonderful support staff - WOW !!! Keep it up - all of you are so awesome... Love, Gem

Dear Kara, Hopefully all systems are back to almost normal functioning on this your 5th post-op day! I'm so glad you're up to walking and playing games with Emma and Luke; what fun and what a help to your recovering self to play and laugh with the children. How could we be more fortunate than to have a rehab center at home with all positive folks eager and ready to help 24 hrs a day. You are truly in a remarkable and therapeutic state of healing grace, and I'm so very grateful for every moment of improvement and every baby step forward to full health. Hugs and Kisses and Much Love to all- Aunt Betsy

Aloha! I really wish we could be there to help. We are still looking for the reason God sent us to Hawaii instead of Houston. I was so excited for Emma today when she told me about her bucket of polywogs. She needs her biologist Grandpa Jim to help. We are looking forward to when we return in October. You are going to be so much better!!! I will be on the lookout for a grass skirt for Miss Em. We will continue to pray for your imporved health and a total eradication of the cancer from your body. Love, Gamma and Gampa

Me again! Just checking up on you. I'm so glad that I get to share such good news with everyone here. Even the guys at work want updates on you. I'm thankful your family shares the news so freely, so that followers of your blogspot can pass it on.
Believe it or not, it has been 12 years since you watched Jaydon be born. I'm glad you know enough enough to really appreciate Emma and Luke every moment.
We all love you and think of all of you often.

Matt & Kara,
Just a note to let you know we've been praying for you. What a great attitude you have! Continue to focus on the positive and the things going right. With God's help, you will get through this. We have been amazed by some of the odds we have seen people with cancer overcome. A friend's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer when their first child was a few months old. She went into remission so it seemed all was ok. Unfortunately, she was in the 10% of those that relapse--when she was pregnant with child #2. She miscarried and began chemo again. They were advised her cancer was so aggressive, she may not have much time left. That was at least 4 years ago. Their child is now in first grade. Unfortunately she still has to be on chemo, but overall has been quite active and still enjoys many activities. She has survived cancer in the brain, lungs, etc.
We will continue to pray for you and hope for many more years of actively enjoying your family. Stay strong and hang in there :)
Keep your positive attitude and keep fighting the good fight!
