In February 2005, Kara was diagnosed with a rare form of metastatic brain cancer – large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. She is a devoted mother of two, and a caring and generous wife, sister and daughter. This blog was started to keep family and friends informed of Kara's progress. The thoughts and prayers Kara has received through this blog have been an unending source of hope and inspiration, including many kind and encouraging comments from people she has never met. We thank you all.

Thanks to Jean for keeping me updated through this web page. How blessed you are to have each other as sisters. I just re-read your March 10th posting to those of us eaves-dropping on your lives through the internet and I was blessed again by you.
