Fourth Round of Chemotherapy

Kara begins her next round of chemotherapy today. This day is usually spent getting checked in, having her IV started, and receiving IV fluids to hydrate her before they administer chemo drugs. Her oncologist will come by and check on her in the evening before getting things started. So for the first and second days she is in the hospital, she feels pretty good. The third (and possibly fourth) days, though, are rough for her.

As an early Mother's Day gift, Kara received a set of webcams so that she can videochat with the kids at home while she is in the hospital. They've tested the system out, and it seems to be working great, so hopefully it will work when she needs of a cheerful break from the boredom of the hospital room.

Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for health and comfort for Kara during this her fourth round of chemotherapy -- that her veins stay strong, her blood count stays where it should be, and that she avoids any infections.
- Please pray for the reduction and management of side effects following this round of chemotherapy.
- Please pray for peace and good spirits for Kara during this difficult time.
- Please pray that the cancer be eradicated from Kara's body, permanently.

Thank you for staying involved in Kara's life during this most difficult time -- your prayers, encouraging words, and innumerable other kindnesses sustain her.

Kara,

We will be praying for you a ton this week--knowing that this is usually a harder week for you. The web cams sound like a terrific idea! I bet that Emma and Luke will really enjoy getting to see mama each day. Happy early mother's day. I know that you are an absolutely wonderful mom to your children. You are such a great example to me. Hang in there! Our prayers keep coming!

Hi Kara,

We continue to pray for the Lord to sustaing you body, soul, and spirit. He is able to do abundantly more than we ask or think to supply you.
How neat to have the webcams this time while you are in the hospital so you and Emma and Luke can communicate easily via video even!
Know we love you and are praying each day,
Aunt Karen and Uncle Don

Dear Kara, What a wonderful early Mother's Day gift! I'm so happy for you that you'll be able to talk with the children directly and see them too thanks to this high tech marvel and John and Jean's expertise in setting it up for you ! Please remember that with Round IV you're on the downhill side and know that the chemo is doing its job to eradicate completely the tumor. Our thoughts and prayers have never been more constant and fervent than now for your total recovery and return to full health. You are so brave and so determined and are doing your part in such a wonderful way. Kara, we love you and are with you every moment of your hospital stay this week. Aunt Betsy

"O Lord God, I cried out; O great and awesome God who keeps His promises and is so loving and kind to those who love and obey Him! Hear Our prayers for Kara! Listen carefully to what we say! Look down and see our praying night and day for your Kara."
Nehemiah 1:

Nehemiah was visited by one of his fellow Jews from Judah. He took the opportunity to inquire about how things were going in Jerusalem. His friend told him, "The remnant who are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach; the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down and its gates are burned with fire. When I heard this, I sat down and cried. I refused to eat for several days, for I spent the time in prayer to the God of Heaven. Thus, God put in his heart Jerusalem and what he needed to do to rebuild His beloved city. The city where the Glory of God would shine out to the nations.

Kara, God has given you a vision, a dream just as he did Nehemiah. May this be the source of your strength this week and on as "with His stripes you are healed."

Dear Kara,
We continue to pray daily that you will recieve the gift of good health, that the chemo will continually work to eradicate the cancer from your body, and that you will have faith and strength to get you through these next few days. We pray that God will send us a sign of what our tasks will be when we get there so that we can be the greatest help.
Love, Gamma and Gampa
