Novalis and Temodor

Kara met with Dr. Lynch yesterday. He was pleased with how things are going and will have Kara take the oral chemotherapy drug, Temodor, for the next five days. Also, she began Novalis to treat on the spot near her spleen. She began the Novalis on Monday and will have 10 treatments each weekday over the next two weeks.

Kara (and the rest of us) have enjoyed the visit from some of our relatives from Pennsylvania. Mom and Lois' cousin, Janice, and her family have been down in Texas for the past week. We all spent the Fourth of July in La Grange. Then we all gathered in Austin on Saturday for a picnic lunch near the falls at Bull Creek. Emma got to come up a day early and spend the night with Uncle John and Aunt Carrie. Kara had a busy weekend and had the energy to enjoy it.

We do have some sad news, however. Jean's loyal pet and companion, Lottie, suffered what appeared to be a seizure on Saturday. By the time Lottie arrived at the emergency vet, she had already passed on. There was nothing that could be done. Jean is devastated by the loss. We all will miss the joy that Lottie brought into our lives.

Prayer requests:

- Pray that the new chemotherapy drug is an effective treatment for Kara.
- Pray that the Novalis is able to successfully treat the spot near Kara's spleen.
- Pray to give Kara the physical and emotional strength she needs as she continues her treatment.
- Pray for Jean as she copes with the loss of her beloved pet.

Hi Kara and family,

Glad to hear that your meeting with Dr. Lynch went well. I know it is always reassuring to meet with him. Sounds like you had a great 4th of July with family all around. :) I am so sorry to hear about Lottie; it is so hard to lose a beloved pet. We will pray for Jean as she mourns.
Take care of yourself! I am so happy that your energy is returning. It will be fun to enjoy the summer with Emma and Luke during all their activities. :)

Love,
Leslie

Kara,

I'm so glad that you had a good time with the Butterworth family. :)

We're praying that you will respond extremely well to all of your new treatments, the Temodor especially, as well as the Novalis. May you find fresh hope in Christ each day, as He heals and restores you.

We're shocked to hear about precious Lottie. I've always seen Lottie as such a devoted puppy--so adorable and full of love. Jean, I'm so sorry to hear this. Little Lottie meant so much to all of the family, and we'll miss her.

Much Love to all,
Gina and Curby

Keep up the good work! a day at a time. You are an inspiration for all of us. We are finally back into the 21st century, with phones and internet. Sure don't know about all this heat and flat of Kansas after being in the Smokies for 2 months!!! All our fellow volunteers have added you to their prayer list, so add Tennessee and Kentucky to your list of people watching over you.
Our heart goes out to Jean; Lottie will be missed!

Dear Kara, Thinking of you this week as you continue your Novalis and start the Temodor treatments. Hopefully you'll tolerate them well and continue to improve more each day as our Lord works in His own way to show us His healing powers through you and your wonderful spirit! Thank goodness for festive times with family and friends, and I know how very much you enjoyed your visit with Janice and family over the 4th. Emma and Luke are so fortunate to be able to enjoy all the adoring adults in their little lives and all the special animals as well. Lottie was one of the most special to them and of course to Aunt Jean, and I'm so sorry to hear about her recent death. She meant so much to everyone who had a chance to know her in her short life, and how lucky we are to get to be a part of such a joyous full of life little dog, Aunt Jean's marvelous companion and dear little friend, Lottie. Kara, please rest and take good care of yourself as you proceed with your healing process, and please know that you are loved and prayed for day and night. Much love, Aunt Betsy

Dear Kara - I have been run over by the "moving Mom to Assited Living" and "getting her house ready to sell" truck. But these are difficult but manageable.
The real mountains are those medical challenges that you and your wonderful team are tackling and handling with determination and inspiration to us all. We pray for you' all each day. My words to you have been sparse lately but I never stop praying and hoping for the best for you and yours.
And for Dear Jean, please feel my hugs. You are so kind and generous to everyone and we must all reach out to you as you adjust to life without Lottie. Each day will bring some healing time and we are thinking of you and praying for your better times ahead.
Love, Gem
