Update

Kara is going into the hospital today to receive some blood to boost her energy level. She hasn't felt very good since getting her flu shot last month, and hopefully this will do the trick. She has blood drawn every week for tests, and Dad is going to see if they can take less blood, which may lessen her fatigue.

Kara had her first round of Avastin on Friday. The insurance company has denied coverage for this drug, but Matt is optimistic that it can get sorted out relatively quickly, without having to go through the extensive fight that they had to do to get Kara's Herceptin treatments paid for. Kara will have another round of Avastin this Friday, and every Friday for five more weeks.

Matt's sister Jenny and her family were in Houston earlier in the month, as were Matt's parents, and the cousins had a fun time playing with each other -- Emma and Samantha are about the same age, and Luke is a little bit older than Heath.

Prayer Requests:
- Please pray that tbe blood transfusion goes smoothly.
- Please pray for insurance company approval of the Avastin.
- Please pray for increased energy for Kara.
- Please pray that the cancer be eradicated from Kara's body, permanently.

Thank you.

Dear Kara,

I hope that you don't have to stay at the hospital too long for the transfusion AND that it does the trick and gives you some more energy. I'm glad you are able to be receiving chemo again and will be praying that it is even more successful than all of the previous treatments!

Take care and God bless,
Leslie

Dear Kara, Hopefully you're back home by this time after having gotten you transfusion - feeling better again with more energy and zip, knowing that you'll be more ready for the next step of chemo or whatever Dr. Lynch has planned for your treatment. Please rest and take good care of you. Our prayers continue for your full return to complete health and full healing, as we realize the wonderful power and comfort our Lord gives each of us daily. How fortunate that your team is following you so closely and seeing that you receive what you need when you need it. Hopefully these next treatments will be the successful finale to all your rounds of chemo. Stay rested and remember how very special you are to all of us and how our dear Lord holds you in the palm of His hand. Much love, Aunt Betsy

Dear Kara,
Thank you for the web site. We will pray for you. It will be good to keep up with your progress. We remember Matt from a long way back since he and Eric were in the same class. You certainly have a beautiful family!

Dear Kara,
We had such a great time with you and the kids. Watching you put on your own lipstick made me want to cry happy tears! God sure sends his blessings in strange ways...who would have thought that He would be thinking about mascara and lipstick? Topeka continues to send prayers your way for a complete cure,
Love, Diane and Jim

Kara, You looked good in class today. It's such a blessing to see your faithfulness to God's Word. His grace and love are seen in you so clearly. And the joy of the Lord is truly your strength.
I'm glad you were able to receive the transfusion yesterday. May the Lord bless and keep you in His Care and may His Healing Power be experienced. And may He encourage you and your wonderful family during this Thanksgiving season.
In His Love, Diane

Hi Kara,
We thank the Lord for the transfusion and Avastin for you and trust it is just the right treatment you need.
We are glad to hear that Emma and Luke had fun with their cousins recently and we pray you all have a joyful Thanksgiving.
I read today in Psalm 115 about how we trust in the Lord because He is our help and our shield. May you continue to feel His presence strengthening you and shielding you.
Love,
Aunt Karen and Uncle Don
