In February 2005, Kara was diagnosed with a rare form of metastatic brain cancer – large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. She is a devoted mother of two, and a caring and generous wife, sister and daughter. This blog was started to keep family and friends informed of Kara's progress. The thoughts and prayers Kara has received through this blog have been an unending source of hope and inspiration, including many kind and encouraging comments from people she has never met. We thank you all.

Thank you John for the wonderful photos. Kara, you are so lucky to have such a wonderful support system to help you through this. You can just see the love and care in all the pictures. You, Matt and your children are truly blessed to have such a caring family to help you through this difficult time.
We are praying for your continued strength as you prepare for your next chemo treatment. Remember, God is in control and sees your situation.
Dear Kara,
What a fun birthday party you planned for Emma! :) I'm glad you had a good weekend with Matt's sister's family, too. Have a Happy Halloween! I'll be praying for you during your last round of chemo this week.
Love,
Leslie
The hope and innocence in Emma's eyes gives me strength. I know it does you too Kara. The very reason you have fought so tirelessly. There is no one who doesn't wish they could take this cup from you. As we continually, constantly lift you to Jesus - WE WILL BE PROCLAIMING HIS VICTORY in your life; thanking Him for it - no trace of cancer left! GLORY TO JESUS!
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
2Corinthians 4:17
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18
Hi Kara,
What birthday fun you all have had--thanks for sharing these good photos!
We are glad to hear you have had a fun visit with Jenny and Samantha and Heath over this past weekend.
As you begin chemo on Tuesday we will be praying for your continued strength through the treatment and trust you in the hands of the Great Physician for His healing.
We love you,
Aunt Karen and Uncle Don
