Kara's oncologist met with her last night, and he is very pleased with Kara's response to the chemotherapy and how well she has tolerated the most aggressive type of chemotherapy. It seems odd to us, seeing how sick she has been, to hear she's tolerating it well, but she has been fortunate that she's been able to stay on schedule with her treatments and hasn't had any significant problems.
This round of chemo is not going as smoothly as the others, logistically. She still doesn't have a room yet, and the drugs sent over were not the right kind. So she has not yet begun the chemotherapy, and is in the process of changing rooms. This probably means she will not be home until Thursday.
The plan for the rest of the summer is more tests the week after July 4th, and then at the end of that week, the liver surgery. Kara will be able to enjoy the long weekend and hopefully attend the Bellaire Parade as they've done the past few years, before beginning the next phase of treatment.
Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for health for Kara through this round of chemo -- that her veins hold up, that her bloodwork stays where it needs to be, and that she remains infection-free.
- Please pray for physical and spiritual comfort for Kara during this trying time.
- Please pray that the side effects will be minimal following this round.
- Please pray that the cancer is eradicated from her body, permanently.
Thank you.

Dear Kara, We are so thrilled about the report from your oncologist. Obviously the tremendous determination on your part is showing! This combined with your ever growing prayer chain - makes for a highly successful team.
Your "blog spot" is such a blessing. We are all so grateful to have access to your progress reports and to know how you and yours are handling things.
Our hat is off to Jean! This "blog spot" is a very special gift for us all. We are praying and hoping for your continued healing each day. Love, Gem
Dear Kara, How good to know that you'll soon have a room and be able to proceed with Rnd VI ! It's wonderful for all of us to hear that your oncologist is so pleased with your treatment course and your determination to stay on track and schedule! I'm not sure just how you've met all the goals so far and yet see the evidence of all the miracles at work especially in your attitude and courage, faith and trust which have enabled you to focus on the primary task somehow. That to me is the greatest miracle of all- your marvelous participation in the constellation of care and therapeutic management continuing each and every day whether at the hospital or at home, whether with your physicians and nurses or with your mom and dad, Jean and John, your church family or extended friends of the incredible prayer chain which never stops or lets up for a minute. You are our special treasured miracle, our dear dear Kara. How we love you and pray for you to be embraced with His love and healing and power especially as you enter this last phase of chemo this week. Aunt Betsy

HALLELUJAH - Victory in Jesus!!!!!!
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost?
Luke 13:28
Christ calls us to follow Him, regardless of the cost, and He has never promised that our path will always be smooth. I have chosen Christ not because He takes away my pain, but because He gives me strength to cope with that pain and in the long range to realize victory over it.
Dear Kara, What a blessing for us to have the wonderful blogspot with up to the minute news from Jean and John regarding your progress and how eager we are to know that Rnd VI is almost over and that you are safely back home with good supportive care. We're praying continuously for your ongoing return to perfect health and strength and know that you are in God's healing hands as you recover as much from the intensive treatments as from the previous tumors which are no more! Take good care of your very special self and know that you are never alone in this incredible journey. Much love, Aunt Betsy
